  • Me with a purple mouth, something I made as a logo for my Tumblr account, an online portfolio sort of. Cause its easy and looks good ^^

Drawn with black pen, then traced in Illustrator & colored in Photoshop.

  • Sandman, the graphic novels by Neil Gaiman (and a billion amazing artists), is an immense source for wonder and inspiration. The man is a magician.

My favourite of the Endless family is and has always been Delirium, so a drawing with her will probably surface in the future. Meanwhile have one of Morpheus, dream king.

A quickie with black pen, about 8x10 cm.

The phone crazies are coming to town

  • Started this a couple of days ago, finished today. I didnt have an idea upfront, as per usual, and just started with the fact I wanted to do big eyes and a screaming mouth. After some time I realised this might've been cause Im rereading Stephen Kings book "Cell". A signal transmitted through cell-phones make people murderous crazy bastards (and it goes a lot deeper from there). So I realised I had drawn a phone crazy without thinking about it.

The text in the background is Hal Davids lyrics to Henry Mancinis "Baby elephant walk". Listen to it and you'll probably recognize it right away. People who have read the book will get the reference.

I used a reference from google for the neck, otherwise its my head and pen working away. Free black pen except for some pencil outlays for the neck.

    Quotes from the book:

"'At bottom, you see, we are not Homo sapiens at all. Our core is madness. The prime directive is murder. What Darwin was to polite to say, my friends, is that we came to rule the earth not because we are the smartest, or even the meanest, but because we have always been the craziest, most murderous motherfuckers in the jungle..'"

"'Fuck it', Clay said, 'What good is the end of the world if you can't drive through a goddam board fence?'
And that was what they did."

  • Done yesterday. I tried to draw a cat from memory without references, and I think I just came up with a new species. I picture it larger than a tiger and more ferocious to creatures it doesn't approve of.

  • A couple of days ago I practiced sketching cats with google references, this is 3 out of 10. Done on a small sketchpad.

    Bearded Self-portrait

  • on Saturday, June 04, 2011
  • In the first term in autumn we did self portraits. Mine looked cool, but also like a bluish zombie-maria, and I never finished it. After a few months we returned to the theme, but this time we picked an attribute to add to the portrait. Me being a slightly mental fan of beards took the opportunity to get one. I've now come to understand that beards are hard to paint. Where the beard grows out of the skin in particular. Specially if your reference is yourself with a fake beard hoovering a few mm over the skin. But it was great frickin' fun.

I think it looks a bit like a serious Irish leprechaun.

  • One of the last model oils, aimed for more realistic color-tones. The photograph made it slightly bluer. Done in about 4 hours.

  • A quickie done in 2-3 hours with only palette knife. Done in late 2010

    Colorful Model Oils

  • Both done in 2011, the first one (Ragnar) pretty late in the spring & the second one in winter. Both about 8 hours each. The bright rainbow colours in the lady-one started of with an accidental brush stroke on her thigh.

    Spring Still Life

  • The last Still Life of the year. Doing things a little quicker. Done in about 5 hours.

    Multi coloured Still Life

  • I think this was the third still life I did. And being the first after two one-coloured still lifes that we started the autumn term with, this was an enjoyable break. The brown silky fabric was a toll though, and the apples was damned tricky getting right. Done in about 9 hours (3 lessons).

All the photographs Ive taken of the oil paintings don't do justice to the colours. Oils are so darned vibrant.

    Croquis

  • Time to show some more of what Ive been up to at art school. Starting with one of my favourite croquis sketchings, I think it was from late 2010 or early 2011. When you do it once a week for months in a row and dont put down the dates, it gets hard to remember.

Lil' cat Ella seemed to take a liking to this one as well.
